Barholm Training weekend Oct 2010

The weather couldn’t have been better, the sun shone, the water was calm and the viz was even pretty good so all in all it was a great start to our training weekend at Barholm in Portaferry.

Francis, our Training Officer, adapted plans after illness / accident reduced his compliment of instructors and, despite everything, even managed to prepare a quiz to entertain all after diving on Saturday night.

Eddie was his usual busy self and was given a good workout running up and down the beach with extra weights as well as sorting any equipment issues.

Following the quiz and dinner at either the Portaferry Hotel or Sailing Club there was the usual gathering in Fiddlers to exchange stories and share experiences before heading back to Barholm for a good night's sleep.

Sunday saw a dive on Lees Wreck which offered lots to see including Sea Urchins, Wrasse, Anemones, Sponges and Lobsters among others.

Thanks to all the instructors who helped out.
Thanks to those who towed the boats down
Thanks to Phil for Dive Managing.
Thanks to Francis for doing the quiz
Thanks to Martin Rafferty for kindly filling cylinders.
Thanks to all those who donated prizes
Thanks to everyone who came along and made the weekend a good one

And of course the biggest thanks has to go to Francis for all the organising. He had a lot of challenges this weekend but came up trumps!

Diving Officer
